PASUPATINATH
TEMPLE
Pasupatinath is the most important
hindu shrine in Nepal. Built in the 17th century, the artistic
temple houses the scared lingam or phallic symbol of Lord Shiva, the destroyer (destroyer
for the new creation ) in the Hindu trinity. It is believed that Lord Shiva had
been vanished before the temple was constructed.
It is located in the
heart of Kathmandu valley at Gausala, Kathmandu,Nepal near Tribhuwan International
Airport about 25 KM from the Bhaktapur City. It takes nearly about one and half
hour from Bhaktapur city and about 10 minutes from Airport.
It is constructed in
Pagoda style that’s why it reflects the ancient architecture. It was first established by the Lichhavi king(from
Lichhavi dynasty). It has gain its historical importance since its
establishment. So every people having Hinduism as religion come to visit and to
pray here. Mostly people from India and other Asian countries come to visit
including Nepali citizen to fulfill their religious belief.
